Well here we are again, looking forward to another year of exciting activities. The past year has been full of great moments, both in the UK on courses and workshops, and overseas in countries as contrasting as Costa Rica and Namibia.
Details of all these activities can be found on www.wildinsights.co.uk. Both regulars and newcomers have joined us through the year, sharing unforgettable wildlife combined with great camaraderie - the key elements of a group trip.
All our activities follow the popular Wild Insights ethos which is to enjoy and savour everything we see and not to rush around concerning ourselves with anything we might have missed. We find this approach much more pleasurable and usually more successful than “target-driven” birdwatching. This ethos extends to the ethical aspects of wildlife watching: we avoid techniques which might cause disturbance such as the use of sound lures.
Most importantly, it is your feedback which helps us to understand if we are getting it right. We read your comments and suggestions carefully, and where possible do our best to act upon them. Ultimately, the best measure of your approval is the continued support you give us. Typically, more than 95% of our overseas tours comprise people who have travelled with us previously, and even in this most recent year of financial uncertainties we have continued to run 100% of our advertised events, most of which are full.
Nobody could have foreseen how the pound would plummet against the dollar and, in particular, the euro. This has, of course, had a knock-on effect on our tours, but as far as possible we have avoided surcharges - in our view a last resort. We have, however, had to be realistic in our pricing for 2010 and beyond, in turn giving you the reassurance that we will always maintain the best available standards of travel and accommodation.
To give you as much advance notice as possible, we included the programme of events for 2010 at the back of our 2009 calendar. As a result of your enthusiastic response we added a second Iceland tour the following week, which promptly sold out too. Although most of the 2010 tours and workshops are well subscribed, there are still a few remaining places here and there. Please check www.wildinsights.co.uk for the latest availability.
Looking further ahead you will see the range of 2011 activities (as announced at the end of last year) at the back of our new 2010 calendar and on the following pages in this brochure.
Newcomers and regulars of every level of experience are equally welcome, and the friendly, inclusive atmosphere of our events means that nobody should feel alone. If you have any questions about anything please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will do our best to answer them.
