Your day at Pax Guest House starts with a coffee on one of the terraces, as the sun rises and the birds appear, and finishes before dinner under the stars with a rum punch on the veranda in the evening, as the sun sets.
Don't forget to spend time around the guesthouse itself, a tropical nature reserve in its own right. Gerard and the gardeners have done wonders since our first visit a few years ago, with the hummingbirds being offered the flower species they like in different areas, thirteen species to date. Many other birds can be enjoyed at close quarters from the terraces or trails around the garden. Hours can be spent in the forest on the estate, go with one of the guides first for your orientation and an understanding of the various bird-rich habitats. Spectacular views too. Birds of prey are another speciality of the house, terraces and valley. Another reason to spend at least one day on the estate means you can enjoy one of Oda's island famous, afternoon teas, with delicious home baked cakes and breads (including her top secret recipe Chocolate Cake). Early morning coffee and biscuits are included for birders. Enjoy memorable birding excursions around the island; and don't forget the Nesting turtles in season too. Once a week there is an evening visit to Port of Spain to see a limbo and fire-eating dance show that can be arranged, this includes an impressive barbeque. An enjoyable diversion from the wildlife!
Birds are everywhere, in the gardens, the sky and the forest below. The second floor veranda is the normal gathering place for birders in the early evening before dinner and gives you a beautiful view of the town of Tunapuna below. After dinner, often under the stars, tea or coffee is served, together with a bird log, socialising and occasionally a guest lecturer. From the veranda Tropical Screech-Owl and Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl maybe audible and have been seen hawking insects. The owner/managers, Gerard and Oda will ensure your stay is relaxed and enjoyable and you will want to join the many that have already returned.
We have represented Pax Guest House for a number of years now, and its reputation continues to spread especially by word of mouth with many repeat visitors. Gerard, Oda and their staff really do offer one of the warmest welcomes anywhere, you are made to be part of the family. This is witnessed by their non-stop popularity when they attend the British Birdwatching Fair with us most years. Bill Oddie and Sir David Attenborough are both big fans and past guests. The birding packages run on either fixed dates or but can be operated on any date. We can arrange any combination of property, and we will quote at the best prices. For groups and private parties the itinerary can also be customised to suit. Travel trade enquiries are also welcome.

We will again be offering non-birding packages to Pax , ideal if you are a returning guest.
