This exciting new tour is part of our new programme of ‘one-off’ or occasional departures, designed for the serious naturalist. We will maximize our time in the field, both day and night throughout, with mammals the primary target, followed by birds. We expect the photographic opportunities to be good throughout. Demand is already high due to client responses from our Spring 2015 e-newsletter, we may operate this one again in 2017. This unique itinerary will combine visits to:

  • Rimba Lodge on Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo) to look for Bornean Orang and Proboscis Monkey and numerous other mammals and birds.
  • Way Kambas National Park on Sumatra with good chances of seeing small cats such as Leopard Cat, an exciting range of primates including the world’s largest gibbon, Siamang, and outside chances of Malayan Tapir, Marbled Cat and Sunda Clouded Leopard. Way Kambas also provides opportunities to see some great birds and is widely regarded as the best location for night-birding in South-east Asia with numerous species of owls, nightjars and frogmouths possible.
  • Gunung Gede on Java to look for several more primates plus along with Javanese Ferret Badger and Malaysian Stink Badger, and finally,
  • Labuan Bajo, our gateway to Komodo and its famous ‘dragons’ along with a further selection of birds and mammals.
