The Weddell Sea lies to the east of the Antarctic Peninsula and is one of Antarctic’s main tabular iceberg sources. It is often heavily frozen, even in the Austral summer and these voyages on our ice-strengthened ships will progress as far as weather and sea ice conditions will allow at the time. Unlike the Peninsula, there are Emperor Penguins colonies here but if you really want to see this magnificent bird you should consider the icebreaker voyages. You do have a chance however of a bird or two sitting on ice floes but also bear in mind, most likely sub-adult birds rather than full adults and certainly not chicks. Still, the magnificent bergs are almost worth the price of admission alone. These voyages range from 11 to 14 nights.
